Titoki - PREMIUM GRADE

Description

Tītoki (Alectryon excelsus) is a hardy, long-lived native tree that brings beauty, biodiversity, and resilience to any restoration project. With its glossy leaves, striking red-black seeds, and bird-friendly benefits, it’s a must-have for regenerating native forests.

Bird Magnet: Kererū and tūī love its nutrient-rich seeds and nectar-filled flowers.
Tough & Versatile: Handles wind, drought, and coastal conditions, thriving in a range of soils, but can be frost tender in colder areas.
Soil Stabilizer: Strong roots help prevent erosion, making it great for riparian planting and slopes.

How to Use It

  • Plant in mixed native forests, riparian zones, or shelterbelts for long-term biodiversity.
  • Establish with the restoration 'Forward Pack' (karamu, mānuka, kānuka, cabbage tree kohuhu and akeake) to provide shelter while it gorws.
  • Low-maintenance— we recommend releasing in the Spring (maybe again in the Summer depending on weed growth), then let it grow strong.

Tītoki, once established, is a hardy second stage long lived tree creating lush, wildlife-rich landscapes that last for generations. Plant it and let the birds move in!
