Hebe Stricta

Description

Hebe stricta, or koromiko, is a native superstar for restoration projects. With its hearty nature, year-round greenery, and bee friendly flowers, this shrub is a perfect pick for creating lush, resilient ecosystems. Although not a full coverage, shading shrub like pittosporum or mānuka, it's real benefit is in its flowers and it being hardy in medium to dry sites.

Hardy and Handsome: Thrives in tough conditions like exposed sites, coastal areas, and poor soils, while staying good-looking all year.
Pollinator Paradise: Its summer blooms are a hit with bees and other pollinators, helping to boost biodiversity.
Soil Saver: Great for erosion control, stabilizing slopes and disturbed ground with ease.

How to Use It

  • Plant it on hillsides, coastal sites, or as part of a mixed native planting.
  • Pair with mānuka, kānuka, and flax for a biodiversity powerhouse.
  • Easy to care for—just keep weeds down while it establishes.

Hebe stricta is tough, versatile, and stunning, making it a key player in restoration projects.

We grow the Stricta version of the native Hebe as we believe it is the best fit on farms.
