We grow the North Island Kowhai - Sophora Teterpetra.
The larger leaves and more spreading growing habit of this version of Kowhai I believe is more attractive than the more common Microphylla variety.
Kowhai is an absolute must in any revegetation project. They are arguably the favourite plant of Tui and the annual scrap for the best feeding trees in the spring is a sight to behold.
Kowhai prefer forest margins as they only grow to between 5-10m but will bring some much loved bird life and excitement to any revegetation planting.
